Some of the most reliable and easy‑to‑understand pool‑care information I’ve found comes from Trouble Free Pool. Their “Pool School” is an excellent resource for learning the basics of water chemistry, understanding how to balance chemicals, and keeping your pool sparkling all season long. If you’d like to explore further, I’ve included a few of my favorite articles below — each link opens in a new tab so you can browse at your own pace.

These are just a few of the resources I’ve personally found helpful over the years. Every pool is a little different, so your results may vary — and if something doesn’t work for you, please don’t come after me with a pool noodle. I’m just sharing what’s worked well for me and for many other pool owners. Enjoy the deep dive into pool care!

PoolMath has been a trusted pool‑chemistry calculator in the TroubleFreePool community since 2007. Just keep in mind that this older, browser‑based version isn’t being updated anymore.

The PoolMath App is the fully supported, up‑to‑date option — and while I think there’s a free version, it won’t save your chemical additions or past test results. Personally, I like being able to look back and spot any trends or odd readings. The upgraded version is only $7.99 per year on Android (not sure if Apple charges the same), and it lets you track multiple pools. If it doesn’t change your life, please don’t throw chlorine pucks at me — I just find it super handy.

If you’re new to handling your own pool maintenance and still getting the hang of things, having a simple routine can make a world of difference. Even if you’ve been at it for a while, a clear schedule helps keep everything running smoothly. Use this basic care plan as a starting point to build your own rhythm — stick with it and your pool will stay the relaxing escape you want it to be.

If you’ve come across tips, tools, or tricks that have made caring for your pool easier, we’d love to hear about them. Sharing what works for you helps us pass along helpful info to other pool owners and keep our community floating along smoothly.
